About KRETI

Transforming Untapped Potential Into Productive Opportunity

The Kenya Radical Economic Transformation Initiative (KRETI) is a multi-agency, public-private partnership framework designed to radically transform Kenya's national economy by actively engaging the youthful population in highly productive, mechanized commercial agribusiness.

KRETI seeks to address interconnected challenges including youth unemployment, food insecurity, underutilized human capital, dependence on imported processed food products, idle public infrastructure and rural-urban economic imbalances.

Youth
Turning underutilized human capital into productive economic participation.
Agriculture
Building modern, mechanized and commercially productive agricultural systems.
Markets
Connecting Kenyan production to domestic, regional and international markets.

The Challenge

Kenya's Economic Potential
Remains Underutilized

KRETI proposes a structural approach to address these interconnected challenges.

01

Youth Unemployment

Educated young people face limited formal employment opportunities.

02

Food Insecurity

Dependence on traditional rain-fed agriculture creates vulnerability.

03

Agricultural Underinvestment

Agriculture remains central to the economy while facing structural funding challenges.

04

Import Dependence

Processed food products that could potentially be produced locally enter the domestic market.

05

Idle Infrastructure

Public go-downs and processing facilities remain underutilized.

06

Rural-Urban Imbalance

Economic opportunities remain concentrated in urban areas.

KRETI proposes a structural approach: decentralize productive activity, mobilize youth, modernize agriculture, activate idle assets, strengthen value addition and connect Kenyan production to markets.

Our Approach

The Economic Transformation Flow

A structured pathway from youth mobilization to national economic transformation.
